Sonia Gomes, PhD, is a senior trainer in Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing (SE) professional trauma training programs. She is the creator and developer of SOMA Embodiment™ which offers diagnostic skills, touch and movement tools, and haptic awakening to transform emotional, developmental and shock trauma.
She has accumulated more than 30 years of work in the field of Clinical Psychology/Body Orientation. Besides a PhD in Clinical Psychology, Sonia has additional degrees in Structural Rolfing® and Rolfing Movement.
Sonia is the Director of the European Educational Committee for candidate SE trainers and is also Director for International and National Affairs. She is a Board Member of InterFac – International Faculty Committee of SEI – Somatic Experiencing International/USA. She is a founder member of the Brazilian SE Association (ABT – Associação Brasileira do Trauma) and an Educational Director thereof.
